James Hassel Cox

 COX, JAMES HASSEL, of Rossville, died Thursday in a local hospital. Owner and operator of Cox Coal and Supply Company on Main Street for 25 years, he was also a builder and cattle farmer and had been a coal miner and banker. A native of Daisy, Tenn., he was a graduate of Daisy High School where he played basketball. He attended the University of Chattanooga and studied law, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and Chattanooga Valley Presbyterian Church. He was the brother of the late Raymond Cox. Survivors include his wife, Irene Akins Cox, two brothers, Elmer Cox, Soddy Daisy, Charles J. Cox, Red Bank; nephew, Everett Cox, niece Sue Correll, both of Daisy. Arrangements will be announced by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.
