Elbert Lawrence Fitzgerald

Elbert Lawrence  FITZGERALD    
1878 - 1952

            A lifelong resident died at age 72.  A life long resident of the Ooltewah community and for the past 20 years magazine keeper at the Atlas Powder Company there, died early yesterday afternoon in a local hospital. 

            Mr. Fitzgerald had been a member of the Ooltewah Masonic Lodge for almost 50 years. 

            Before going to the powder company he was a baggage agent for the Southern Railway at the Terminal Station here.


             He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nina L. Fitzgerald; two sons, Odgen Fitzgerald, Air Force, Atlanta, and E. L. Fitzgerald Jr., Chattanooga; three daughters, Miss Eliza Fitzgerald, Ooltewah; Mrs. Nina F. Hicks, Chickamauga, Ga. and Mrs. Helen Genter, Chattanooga; a sister, Mrs. Nita Hamby, Ooltewah; a brother T. H. Fitzgerald, Chattanooga, and nine grandchildren. 

             Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ooltewah Methodist Church, of which he was a member.  Burial will be in Sylar Cemetery.  The body will be taken at noon Tuesday from National Funeral Home to the church at Ooltewah.
