Robert Albert "Bob" Tanner, Jr.
Robert Albert "Bob" Tanner Jr., 85, of Chattanooga, passed away on
Thursday, April 16, 2015, in a local healthcare facility. A lifelong
resident of the Chattanooga area, he was the son of the late Robert A
Tanner Sr. and Mildred Monds Tanner. Bob was a graduate of City High
School, as well as Cleveland State Community College. He joined in U.S.
Army in 1945, serving in Japan. In 1952, he began working with the
Chattanooga Police Department, retiring in 1977 as lieutenant. Following
his retirement, he became Captain of the Erlanger Police Department,
serving for 15 years. Bob actively attended several Churches of Christ in
the Chattanooga area, most recently East Brainerd Church of Christ. In
addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy
Tanner; grandson, Tyler Haley; and two sisters, Jeanette Farmer and June
Cooper. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert A. Tanner
III and Vickie, Bradley Tanner Sr. and Janet; grandchildren, Meesha
Norman, Robert A. "Beau" Tanner IV, Brandi Paris, Bradley A. "Tosh" Tanner
Jr., Caitlin Stokes, and 10 great-grandchildren.
